Christmas in Durango

We spent our pandemic Christmas in Durango, a beautiful city in Southwest, Colorado. If you are staying in town, it's about 45 minutes to the Purgatory Ski Resort. You can get your lift tickets online at PurgatoryResort.com in advance to save some time. Plan to park and shuttle to the ski rental shop.

The town itself is mainly enjoyed along Main Street. There is a park there that you can sled down, which was a lot of fun.

Coming from Texas, snow was such a novelty that we spent a lot of time just playing in the snow, but there are a few really good hikes within a 20-minute drive from the city. A few I would recommend are:

The Animas Overlook Trail, which is an easy loop and a good place to walk the dog

Sailing Hawks Loop, a 2.5-mile hike very close to town with some great views of Durango
